- aka Joe. In his marriage registration, Joe was listed as a 32 year old farmer living at 70 Shuter Street, Toronto and a Roman Catholic. Being 32 would make his birth year 1883. Tombstone has 1873. Joseph is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, old section, grave B-11, Unity, Saskatchewan. (The Town of Unity has no records of Joseph's burial other than his tombstone inscription).

Joseph obtained entry to his homestead property, SW1/4 of Section 19, Township 40, Range 23, West 3 Meridian on November 21, 1908. He occupied his 12'X18' frame house on May 15, 1909. He lived on the property from May 15, 1909 - December 17, 1909; went to Crossland, Ontario for the winter and returned to his property on April 5, 1910 were he lived continuously until applying for the Crown Patent on November 24, 1911. In 1909 he broke 30 acres. In 1910 he broke an additional 35 acres and had crop on 30 acres. In 1911, he broke another 30 acres and had crop on 65 acres. In 1910 he had 2 oxen, in 1911 he had 4 oxen and 1 horse. By November 24, 1911 he had his house, worth $300, a granary worth $200, a stable worth $75, 2 wells worth $50 and had 8 acres fenced. He swore and signed his application for the Crown Patent in Unity, Saskatchewan on November 24, 1911, the Land Agent recommendation was signed in Battleford on December 1, 1911 and was accepted in Ottawa on December 15, 1911. Joseph obtained entry to his pre-emption property, SW1/4 35-40-24 W3 on February 12, 1912. He did not live on this property. In 1913 he broke 40 acres. In 1914, he broke another 15 acres and had 40 acres in crop. In 1915 he had 55 acres in crop. In 1916 he broke another 12 acres and had 55 acres in summerfollow. On his original homestead he now had the 12'X18' house plus another one 22'X22' worth $1,700, a barn worth $800, 3 granaries worth $400. In each of 1913, 1914 and 1915 he had 4 cattle. in 1916 he had no cattle but had 4 horses. His wife had lived on the homestead since December 1915. He swore and signed his application for the Crown Patent in Unity, Saskatchewan on February 26, 1917, the Land Agent recommendation was signed in Battleford on July 26, 1917 and was accepted in Ottawa on August 22, 1917.
