    • aka Jean. In the 1841 Scottish Census was listed as 40 years old living at Nether Knock, Westerkirk Parish, Dumfreisshire, Scotland. In the 1851 Scottish Census was listed as 51 years old, born in Middlebie, Westerkirk Parish, Dumfriesshire, living at Bonnees, Westerkirk Parish. Emigrated to Orillia Township, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada about 1857. Raised six sons and three daughters and David's son, John, from his first marriage. She is buried beside her husband in St Andrew's & St James' Cemetery, Plot A12-4, Orillia, Ontario. (Tombstone engraving indicates birth date as 1799 and states "native of Parish of Westerkirk, Dumfrieshire, Scotland").
      The April 16, 1874 issue of the Orillia Expositor reported:
      "At Orillia, on Friday 10th of April, Jane, the beloved wife of David Thompson, late of Bonese, Dumfrieshire, Scotland, aged 75 years". (Archives of Ontario microfilm N39 Reel 4). The same was recorded in The Orillia Packet, April 17, 1874 edition, microfilm N039 Reel 23NP.
