MRS. WILFRED WALKER
On Wednesday, October 6, the residents of Eady and vicinity received a great shock when it was learned that Mrs. Wilfred Walker had passed away at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Orillia in her 49th year. Mrs. Walker had been ill only a few weeks and had undergone two major operations, but gradually grew weaker, passing away Wednesday morning. Her maiden name was Hettie Alice Flossie McKinley, daughter of the late William McKinley and Mrs. McKinley, of 525 Indian Road, Toronto. She was married on October 26, 1910, in St. Anns's Anglican Church, Toronto, by the Rev. Canon Skye, and has resided in the community of Eady ever since. She had one of the most active and inspiring dispositions, always eager to learn something new and more eager to pass the idea along to someone else. She was an untiring worker for the community's interests, having taken an active part in the building of Eady Community Hall, and was interested in it until the end. She was an energetic member of the Women's Institute, having filled all the offices at different times. She was a member of St. George's Church, Fairvalley, and had been a member of the Women's Auxiliary. The Eady community has suffered the loss of a most energetic and inspiring leader and long will remain the memory of Mrs. Walker's good and kindly acts.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and mother, three sons, Beverley, Fred, and Edgar, all at home, and three sisters, and two brothers, Mrs. F. Wickson, Mrs. G. Potts, Mrs. B. Williamson, and Edison and Norman, all of Toronto.
The funeral was held on Friday afternoon from her residence to St. George's Church, Fairvally, were service was conducted by the Rev. W.J. Province, burial taking place in the Fairvalley cemetery. The pallbearers were six nephews, Walker and Joseph Rix, Walker and Kenneth Matheson, David Walker Jr., and John Bennet, of Toronto.
There were many beautiful floral tributes showing the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. F. Wickson, Mrs. G. Potts, Misses Eleanor and Marjorie Potts, Mr. Wm. Potts, Mr. and Mrs. B. Williamson, Mr. and Mrs. N. McKinley, Mr. and Mrs. J. Bennett and Miss Clare Bennett, all from Toronto.
