  • Notes
    • aka Ken. Ken attended Balfour Technical School in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1945-47, grades 10-11 (was in the Sea Cadets in the 45-46 term and took special drafting in the 46-47 term). He stayed briefly with the Goodmurphy family and then with the Spooner Family who lived on the north side of Regina. He was engaged at one point to Ann Audrey Goodmurphy. Ken lived in Winnipeg. In the early 1950's, he trained pilots and his cousin, Robert Gauley worked on the mechanics of the planes. He worked for Bird Construction in Winnipeg, then formed his own construction company. He owned (with partners) and built Moore Lake Lodge (log cabin construction). He had his own plane to get to Moore Lake Lodge. In 1971 was living in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada when his mother died. Ken and his wife Barbara separated but never divorced. Ken and Joyce Westburg had a son, James. Ken and James had a cottage at Pitt Lake, B.C. and they had two boats. In July 1984, was living at 6010 - 224th Street, Langley, British Columbia. Lived in White Rock, British Columbia. Was living with Donna when he passed away. Died at his cottage at Pitt Lake.
From Ken's daughter Barbara Joan (Shaver) Schwann: Ken was tall, dark, handsome and had lots of personality. Owned his own business, Associated Project Management in British Columbia. He designed buildings as well as did his own contracting. He build many buildings in the lower British Columbia mainland (automobile dealerships, a funeral home in Comox, B.C.). Was interested in photography and had his own darkroom. Made bronze sculptures (had his own foundry on the Langley property). He painted, made jewelry and played the guitar. Was interested in travel, especially Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil and Africa; he invested in a travel agency. He was a pilot and had his own Cessna on floats. Ken suffered a stroke and never regained consciousness. By nature he was extremely generous; one of those people you could tell anything to and expect the best advice. He was very good at keeping secrets and had many friends.
