- aka Bert. Born on the original Thomson homestead at Thacker, later called Colgate, near Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. Bert was 1 year old when his parents homesteaded in the Milly District of Saskatchewan. Bert fell off a table when he was very young and it slightly damaged his brain. Bert attended Milly School. (In an interview with Annie Emma Hagerty August 6, 2002, she remembers Bert going to school in Moose Jaw, Dr. Graham's School for boys. He went to visit with Annie Baird in Lumsden one weekend and was remembered as having a big appitite). In 1936, Bert was working in Cupar, Saskatchewan. Farmed the east half of Section 19, Township 5, Range 7, West of the 3 Meridian in the McCord, Saskatchewan district. Bert was hospitalized in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in May 1962 and again in August 1964. Bert inherited his mother's estate in 1963. Bert and Gladys left the farm and moved to McCord where Bert was caretaker of the rink. The Gordon Hannon family rented the farm and Wendell Hannon eventually bought it. Bert and family went to Expo 67 in Montreal, Quebec in 1967 and stayed with Wayne Thomson. Bert and Gladys separated on July 1, 1968 and divorced on November 2, 1972. Bert spent the last 25 years of his life in the Pioneer Lodge 1971 - 1994 and Ross Payant Long Term Care Home 1994 - 1996 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. He married Agnes MacDonald there in 1979 with Mildred Thomson and Dale Thomson as witnesses, Rev. Gerald Kennedy officiating. Bert and Agnes took a trip to visit his brother Ben in Toronto, Ontario in July 1985. Cremated. Bert's ashes are buried in Prospect Cemetery south of Ferland, Saskatchewan beside his mother and father. The family had his name added to his parents tombstone.
