    • aka Doug. Was educated in Winnipeg at Lord Roberts Elementary School and Calvin High School through grade 11. Was in the Army Reserve during school and was mobilized in 1938. Took his grades 12 and 13 by correspondence courses. Went north with the Hudson's Bay Fur Trading Co. and with Canada Airlines at Norway House. Because he had some radio experience, he went to Northern Quebec and worked, as a civilian, at a radio station in Gava Bay. Returned to Montreal and worked, again as a civilian, on merchant ships there and in St John's and Halifax. Doug took accounting by correspondence courses and became a Certified Management Accountant. Worked for Canadian Fishing Company at its canneries along the British Columbia coast in the summers and in Vancouver in the winters. It was here where he met Lyn. Was married in Dunbar Heights United Church in Vancouver. He lived and worked in Vancouver, Abbotsford and Calgary after getting married. Worked for Westinghouse and Travellers Insurance. Retired in 1991 and lived in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
