    • Marjorie or Marjory? Birth Registration 045783 Archives of Ontario microfilm MS929 reel 196, Marjorie Maude Thomson, born 5 March 1908 to David E. Thomson and Alice Kean. Dr. A.R. Harvie attended. Her name was officially changed on 14 May 1938 to Marjorie Mowat Thomson. Married later in life. Had moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada when she was about 17 and worked all her life there. Was living in Toronto in 1933 when her father died. Was still Miss Marjorie in 1940 when she spent Christmas with her mother in Orillia and in 1944 when she spent New Years with her brother Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thomson. Was living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1976 when her brother Francis Oliver died and in 1983 when her sister Guinivere May died. Had no children. Worked for the Toronto Stock Exchange. In the Toronto City Directories, Marjory was listed 1931-42 working for Biggar & Crawford as teletype operator, clerk, order clerk and wire operator; 1943-50 as private secretary at Seagrams Distillers; was not listed 1951-73; 1974-82 as Sec-Treas at Dana Designs; until 1989 as Office Manager at Dana Consultants and 1990-92 as retired. Marjory lived in 1931 at 16 Gerrard E.; 1932 at 657 Huron; 1933 at 103 Madison; 1936 at 96 Avenue Road; 1937 at 14 Admiral Road; 1938 at 619 Huron; 1939 at 1-21 Sussex Avenue; 1941-45 at 45 Madison Avenue; 1946-1950 at 17 Edgewood Crescent; 1974-1992 at 360 Laird Drive. 1931-1942, her name was in the City Directories as Marjorie, 1943-1992 as Marjory. Marjory disappeared from the City Directories in 1951 to 1974, Jack Burwash first appeared in the City Directories as owner of 360 Laird Drive in 1951. Therefore an assumption has been made that Marjory and Jack married about 1950-1951 and moved to 360 Laird Drive. Buried in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Garden of the Apostles, Lot 524 Grave A2.

      HUNTER, Marjory (nee Thomson): At Riverdale Hospital, Toronto, on Sunday, September 13, 1992. Beloved wife of Jack. Loving sister of Murray of Bracebridge and the late James, Francis, Gwen and Jean. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the "Humphrey Funeral Home-A.W. Miles Chapel", Toronto from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. Complete service in the chapel on Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favourite charity would be appreciated.
