- Was baptized February 3, 1903 at Milton Presbyterian Church, North Dakota, USA by Pastor Allan Morrison with Alexander Caswell Glendinning as witness. He was born 30 July 1902 in Edinburgh, North Dakota, (preceding from the Winnipeg Police Department records). Harold and Marie were married on 23 November 1925 at 341 Washington Avenue, East Kildonan (Winnipeg) by license 8671 by Clergyman E.G.D. Frieman. Harold was listed as a bachelor, occupation Police, age 23, Presbyterian, residence 341 Washington Avenue, East Kildonan, born USA, father James Glendinning, farmer, born Elmwood, Ontario, mother Fanny Baird. Marie was listed as a spinster, occupation Clerk, age 18, Presbyterian, residence 301 Ottawa Street, East Kildonan, born Rainy River, Ontario, father John McDonald, mother Lina Hay. Witnesses were Margaret Glendinning and Alexander Glendinning, both of 341 Washington Avenue, East Kildonan. Harold and Marie separated. Was in the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), then was with the Winnipeg Police Department. In the Winnipeg City Directories, Harold or Harold B. or H.B., Glendenning and Glendinning, in 1926 was living at 341 Washington Avenue; 1929-30 at 187 Polson Avenue; 1930 at 562 McAdam Avenue; 1931 at 21-277 Atlantic Avenue; 1932 at 310 Atlantic Avenue; 1933 at 15-277 Atlantic Avenue; 1934-35 at 72 Lansdowne Avenue; 1935 at 8 Scotia Street; 1937 at 9-962 1/2 Main Street; 1938-42 at 618 Bannerman Avenue; 1943-48 at 16A-846 Main Street; 1949-56 at 10-846 Main Street and 1957 at 8-846 Main Street. He was referred to in the City Directories as police, policeman with the City, constable with the City and in 1951 as sargent with the City. According to Royal Canadian Mounted Police file 94MR-584, Harold B. Glendinning engaged for three years with the RCMP at Regina on December 6, 1920, he was 5 feet, 11.5 inches in height, 175 pounds, light brown hair, brown eyes, fair complexion, Presbyterian. Harold remained at Depot Division (Regina) until August 1921 when he was transferred to Dawson City, Yukon. He reengaged for one more year on December 6, 1923 and returned to Depot Division in June 1924 and he took two months leave to visit his family in Strasbourg. He took his discharge on December 5, 1924. His regimental number was 9706.
According to Winnipeg Police Department records, Harold Baird Glendinning joined the force on November 26, 1925 as a Probationary Constable. Was promoted to First Class Constable November 26, 1928. Was promoted to Patrol Sargeant June 16, 1949 serving in the Uniform Division and Traffic. Was promoted to Uniform Sargeant in the Traffic Division February 1, 1952 where he served until his death February 26, 1957.

Veteran Policeman Dies At 54
Sgt. Baird Glendinning, 54, a veteran member of the Winnipeg Police Department, died in Winnipeg General Hospital late Tuesday afternoon.
A Sargent in the traffic Department, he had been with the police department 22 years and was well known in the city for his police work.
Mr. Glendinning served with the R.C.M.P. in the Arctic from 1920 to 1924. In 1925 he worked for part of the year on the C.P.R. police force and later in the year joined the Winnipeg police department. He was promoted to patrol sargent June 16, 1949, and to sargent February 1, 1952.
Mr. Glendinning was born July 30, 1902. Surviving are his wife, his mother and five sons. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Funeral of Former Policeman Monday
Former Winnipeg police officer Harold Baird Glendinning, 54, of 10 Crump block who died Tuesday in Misericordia hospital will be buried in Chapel Lawn memorial garden following funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Park Lawn Mortuary.
