  aka Ellen. Helen used to go visit her sister Annie (Thomson) Baird in Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Canada in the winter as their house in Bengough, Saskatchewan was not very good. She used to sit and read all the time. (interview with Annie Emma (Baird) Hagerty August 6, 2002). Helen stayed with her brother William Thomson in Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada before she went to North Dakota, USA. In the 1885 Dakota Territory Census, #05-025-14 there was a H. Thomson, age 26, cook, born in Canada, living in Park River, Walsh County. Doug and Lyn Bryan "Birthday Book" had Helen born in 1862 in Harriston, Ontario and died in 1929. Sherman Gauley had death date of January 19, 1929. (Tombstone states 1930). Esther Elizabeth (Gauley) Sabin thinks Helen died in 1929. 1900 Census, North Dakota, Walsh, Glenwood Township, Hoople Village list Helen as becoming a US citizen in 1883.
