- Was baptized on 24 October 1940 by Rev. J.A. MacInnis in Orillia St Andrew's Presbyterian Church. His father was listed as a resident of 53 Penetang Street. (Orillia Library microfilm 539). Attended West Ward School and Orillia Collegiate Institute, Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Served in WWII, in the Army in the Argyle Sutherland Regiment. Worked for Canadian Pacific Express, Terminal Manager and as a Court Services Officer in the Court House in Barrie, Ontario. Buried in Section Q (R33-41) in Orillia. Was living in Orillia in 1956 when his mother died and in 1993 when his brother George Marr Ross Sr. died.

ROSS, David William (WWII Veteran, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) - The death occurred suddenly at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, July 4th, of David William Ross, in his 79th year. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Margaret Joan Clayton, his only daughter, Dale, his friend and son-in-law John McDonald and his dear grand-daughter Chloe McDonald. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mowat Ross and his brother Marr Ross. He is survived by his brother Grant (Gander) Ross, his sister-in-law Celine (Teri) Ross and his sister Jean (Ross) Cobbold of Paris, Ontario. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Orillia and England and a sister-in-law, Rhoda Clayton, of Bedfordshire, England. The funeral service will take place at the Orillia Presbyterian St. Andrew's Church, corner of Peter and Neywash Streets, Orillia, on Saturday morning, July 7th, at 10 o'clock and will be immediately preceded by a Royal Canadian Legion Service in the church at 9:45 a.m. The family will receive friends and relatives at a reception to be hosted in the church immediately following interment services at St. Andrew's - St. James' Cemetery, Orillia. If desired, memorial donations to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Building Campaign would be sincerely appreciated.
