  • Notes
    • Was baptized on 6 September 1925 by Rev. N.H. McGillivray in Orillia St Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Her father was listed as an Auto Agent. (Orillia Library microfilm 539). Attended public school in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Attended high school in Alliston (2 1/2 years) and Aurora (2 1/2 years), Ontario. After high school, Yvonne took a government sponsored Business Course in Orillia and went to Ottawa, Ontario to work for the summer. Attended University College 1944 - 45 taking Honour Science. In the fall of 1945 she started training for and graduated as a registered nurse from Toronto General Hospital Toronto, Ontario, in 1948. Worked at Toronto General Hospital for one year, 1949, in the Private Operating Rooms there. Yvonne got married in 1950 and moved to Streetsville where she did some home nursing and hospital relief work for two years. She then stayed at home until after Ted died. Went back to full time nursing at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton, Ontario. She started in the operating rooms, then night nurse in the emergency operating room for 4 1/2 years. Was in the intensive care unit for one year, health nurse for one year, then was night supervisor until retiring in 1983. Yvonne and Harvey moved to Elora in the fall of 1983 and opened a shop, "Country Quilts". Yvonne had quilted for years and it was a great outlet for her crafts (she was an excellent quilter as well as a knitter). The store was a wonderful way to meet people from all over the world. They closed the shop in 1990. Yvonne and Harvey enjoyed their one acre lot and home in Elora until they moved into a condominium in Fergus, Ontario in 1998. Yvonne was a member of the Elora Opti-Mrs Club, Groves Hospital Volunteer Association and the Fergus Seniors Club.
