Owned and operated, with her husband Lewis Reid, Tamarack Trail Gallery in Ponoka, Alberta. DARCY SHAVER Darcy passed away peacefully at Lacombe Health Care Center, Lacombe, AB, January 22, 2003 with her loving husband Lewis Reid at her side. Darcy was born Nov. 14, 1956 in Bengough and moved to Alberta in 1972. Darcy leaves to mourn, her greatest admirer, husband Lewis of Ponoka, AB, loving parents Norman ands Stella Shaver of Bengough, step daughters Vicki of Calgary, AB, Kathy, husband Todd and grandson Aiden of Gull Lake, SK. Brothers Randy, Monty, Corey, sister Janet, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Darcy in the last 12 years was able to accomplish her lifelong dream of becoming a full time artist, following in the footsteps of her grandmother, Jean, who was a great influence in her life. Darcy's art adorns the homes of admirers across western Canada, as well as around the world. A memorial service was held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel, Lacombe, AB, on Wed., Jan. 29 at 1:00 p.m. A time of fellowship was held at the Cozy Corner. There will be a second memorial service in Bengough for family and friends Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2.00 p.m. in the Bengough Community Center. Darcy's ashes will be laid to rest along side her grandparents, Jean and Jay Shaver, in the Bengough Cemetery. Darcy held a special place in our hearts and will be forever missed. Harold remained at Depot Division (Regina) until August 1921 when he was transferred to Dawson City, Yukon. He reengaged for one more year on December 6, 1923 and returned to Depot Division in June 1924 and he took two months leave to visit his family in Strasbourg. He took his discharge on December 5, 1924. His regimental number was 9706. According to Winnipeg Police Department records, Harold Baird Glendinning joined the force on November 26, 1925 as a Probationary Constable. Was promoted to First Class Constable November 26, 1928. Was promoted to Patrol Sargeant June 16, 1949 serving in the Uniform Division and Traffic. Was promoted to Uniform Sargeant in the Traffic Division February 1, 1952 where he served until his death February 26, 1957. Baird Glendinning, 54, a veteran member of the Winnipeg Police Department, died in Winnipeg General Hospital late Tuesday afternoon. A Sargent in the traffic Department, he had been with the police department 22 years and was well known in the city for his police work. Mr. Glendinning served with the R.C.M.P. in the Arctic from 1920 to 1924. In 1925 he worked for part of the year on the C.P.R. police force and later in the year joined the Winnipeg police department. He was promoted to patrol sargent June 16, 1949, and to sargent February 1, 1952. Mr. Glendinning was born July 30, 1902. Surviving are his wife, his mother and five sons. After high school, Yvonne took a government sponsored Business Course in Orillia and went to Ottawa, Ontario to work for the summer. Attended University College 1944 - 45 taking Honour Science. In the fall of 1945 she started training for and graduated as a registered nurse from Toronto General Hospital Toronto, Ontario, in 1948. Worked at Toronto General Hospital for one year, 1949, in the Private Operating Rooms there. Yvonne got married in 1950 and moved to Streetsville where she did some home nursing and hospital relief work for two years. She then stayed at home until after Ted died. Went back to full time nursing at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton, Ontario. She started in the operating rooms, then night nurse in the emergency operating room for 4 1/2 years. Was in the intensive care unit for one year, health nurse for one year, then was night supervisor until retiring in 1983. Yvonne and Harvey moved to Elora in the fall of 1983 and opened a shop, "Country Quilts". Yvonne had quilted for years and it was a great outlet for her crafts (she was an excellent quilter as well as a knitter). The store was a wonderful way to meet people from all over the world. They closed the shop in 1990. Yvonne and Harvey enjoyed their one acre lot and home in Elora until they moved into a condominium in Fergus, Ontario in 1998. Mr. Thomson was a son of the late Simon Thomson and Janet Edgar of South Orillia, and was born on June 4, 1864, on part of what is now the Ontario Hospital farm. From there the family moved to Netherby farm, well known throughout this district. Mr. Thomson bought the Cameron farm at four-mile point, which he later sold to Mr. Peter Mawdsley. Twenty-five years ago he came to Orillia and was employed for some time at D.C. Thomson's flour and feed mill on market square. Later he purchased the grocery store in Mississaga Street West, opposite the West Ward school. Eight years ago he suffered a stroke, but was unable to be around until three weeks ago when he became very ill. "He leaves two brothers, Thomas and William, on Netherby farm, and four sisters, Mrs. Alexander Edwards of Burk's Falls, and three sisters at Netherby, Jean, Margaret and Robena. One sister, Mary, died while a child. He married Margaret Jane Harvie, who survives but he had no children. He was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 3 o'clock from Doolittles Funeral Parlours to St. Andrew's Cemetery, and the Rev. J.A. MacInnis will take the service. Six nephews will be pallbearers, William Edwards, Sydney Edwards, Ward Martin, Corbett Harvie, Robert Bell and T.S. Thomson."
