2851 | Sonny played halfback for Michigan State University Spartans football team 1948-50 and had 19 rushing touchdowns. He was an All American halfback with Michigan State in 1950. Was Most Valuable Player in the Hula Bowl in 1951 playing with Michigan State. In 1951 he was a third round pick of the New York Giants National Football League and was still with them in 1953. Sometime in this period, Sonny was a Lieutenant in the Korean War (1950-53). Became Assistant Coach with the Spartans. Then Head Coach in University of Colorado Buffaloes 1959-61. In 1961 there was a scandal over paying Buffaloes college football players from a slush fund. Sonny was fired however some felt he was a scapegoat as the payments had been going on for years. Colorado won the Big Eight Championship under Sonny. In 1974 he was Vice President and General Manager of the Detroit Wheels, a newly formed professional football team in the World Football League. Blood, 1922-2007 Early in the morning of March 31, Glen Blood passed away peacefully at the Kindersley District Hospital, after suffering a stroke the previous afternoon. He had been enjoying the good life in Eston, having recently celebrated his 85th birthday, with a great many friends and family in attendance to wish him well. Glen is survived directly by his wife, Doris; two sons, Guy and Kevin; and daughters Lenna and Danna; brother Eugene; and sister Janice. Two brothers, Earle and Sam died several years ago. Amongst his descendants there are seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Interment of the cremated remains will occur at some later time in the Sniper Lake Municipal Cemetery, north of Eston. Stephen is survived by his mother and father LesleyAnn and Neil; his brothers Matthew (Melissa) and Ben; his nephew Evan and niece Kendra; his wife Michelle and daughters Sara and Emma; and in-laws David and Nicole. Left to mourn also is his loving grandmother Jean; aunt Marcia; uncle Ken; and his nanny Elsie. His uncle Scott; aunt Judi (Scott); aunt Colleen (Blaine); aunt Lynda (Gary); aunt Shannon (David); as well as numerous cousins and friends will miss him as well. He was a loving father to his daughters, they were his whole world. Cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial will be held at a later date, with a public celebration of Stephen's life to follow.
