Retired in 1976, had an auction sale in March, sold the farm and moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. Harry Miracle was the groomsman at George and Ethel's wedding. Was very talented in mechanics, plumbing, electrical and woodworking, he was a tinkerer. Buried in Swift Current Memorial Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. REAR - Mr. George Clarke Rear passed away at the Plains Health Centre on Tuesday, December 26, 1995 at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by a daughter, Carole (1970); brother Jack (1992); and sister, Mary (1995). George will be dearly missed and always remembered by his wife, Ethel; daughter, Sandra (Andre) Lalonde; granddaughters: Megan and Meika; sisters-in-law: Helen Rear, Mildred Thomson and Thel Thomson; brother-in-law, Bert Thomson (Agnes); nieces Myrna Blanchard (Russell). Nancy Christopher (Dennis), Linda Jackson (Brian), Joyce Hiltz (Vaughn), Gail Eklund (Doug), Bonnie Thomson, Pat Russell; nephews Wayne Thomson and Dale Thomson; and numerous great nieces and nephews. George was born at Vanguard where he farmed until his retirement in 1976. He was active in the Vanguard community as a municipal councillor, member of the Oddfellows Lodge, the curling club, and a volunteer for many community projects. In his retirement he remained active, enjoying travelling, golfing, curling, gardening and woodworking. George was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed life, laughter and friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale St., Regina with Rev. John Haas officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2332 - 11th Ave., Regina, Sask., S4P 0K1 or to the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 - 23rd Ave., Regina, Sask., S4S 0A5 would be appreciated by the family. Predeceased by his first wife Roberta Helena (nee Bruce) of 39 years (March 4, 1988) and second wife (Bonnie Sue (nee Schur) (June 5, 1997), father Abraham Klassen; his mother Helena; siblings Peter, Helen, Nettie, Tena and Marie. Survived by son Ken (Linda); grandchildren Terry, Kyle and Billy; daughter Grace (Dave); grandchildren Telena, Jessie and Christina, and his latest love Anne; his siblings Jake, Abe, Ike, Elizabeth, Benno, John, Margaret; many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by us all. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend and coworker. He was a well respected member of the I.L.W.U. for 37 years. He worked hard all his life and helped many family members and others. His doors were always open and everyone felt welcome. He loved the outdoors, family gatherings, his roses, fishing and his church. We will not forget you and you will live on in our thoughts and hearts.
